Not a poem, but a list is kinda like a poem

Okay, so I keep thinking of all the things I want to do before my time in P-town USA, and my beloved BYU campus, is up. Here is what I have in mind thus far:

1. See a lot of movies in the Provo theaters (both dollar and regular): Nine, the one that is coming out in February, some others I can't remember, something animated cuz I can't remember the last time I saw an animated movie in a theater seat, It's Complicated

2. Harley Davidson store in Utah County: Because I have a rather odd love for motorcycles-even though I am terrified to drive them-and my favorite chef on the planet raves about the restaurant there. I especially want to see the V-rod, the beautiful motorcycle that combines the raw speed of a bullet bike with the class and elegance of porsche engine technology. Mmmmmm....vroom vroom

3. Sammy's

4. Road trip: tis true friends, I have thus never taken a college road trip! Oh my gosh! I know. But clearly, I have ever intention of remedying this. Disneyland or Vegas. If I am gonna do this, I am gonna do it right. And as always, in style...

5. Pasta Roni: I have nowhere near consumed enough pasta roni to merit graduation. Quotas people, quotas!

6. Pizza! : I always associated pizza with college. Well, more specifically, pizza being delivered. Picking up pizza is just not the same as partying with friends uninterrupted by a lovely greasy pizza.

7. jdawgs!: more jdawgs! Jdawgs is totally not going to be the same when I am not a student, I will just be one of those wannabes, so I need to get some serious beef dawgs with lots of special sauce in.

8. Holding hands at the devo: THIS is real BYU. Holding hands at a devotional. Can it get more co-ed than that?!! Maybe I should wear a shade shirt, jeans that are way too light and heinous flats, now I am ready to be full BYU from 11:05 to 11:50.

9. I need to officially buy a Cecil is my homeboy shirt! I keep talking about it, at least once a week for the last three years. But if I bought it after I graduated, well that would just be creepy. But wearing a cartoon picture of my University's president across my chest pre-commencement isn't creepy whatsoever!

10. Kiss at the bell tower: I have never kissed at the bell tower! Actually, I have never walked up to the bell tower platform/balcony thing. Ever. I am the worst BYU student ever. But one must do what one must do. Thus, I shall kiss at the Bell Tower. Fortunately my boyfriend is insanely gorgeous, which helps in this overwhelming task:)

Wish me luck in my endeavors! Graduation is just a few short months away. Scary.

Rhyming Rolls

As Thanksgiving is upon us, a new poem I will write
of my favorite Thanksgiving ritual and right.
'Tis the rolls each year, those golden brown,
that make me grateful and eliminate frown.
Whether Nana's crescent rolls of a citrus nature,
or Mom's so fluffy from the bread maker,
I love them all, even more than the pies
And eat enough to double my thighs.
I try to wait until dinner is served,
but I tend to sneak one, which usually perturbs
the mothers who slave over the dough and the flavor
for all of their kindred to love and to savor.

I love rolls!

Percocet Poetry

Alas dear friends I was plagued again,
as I drove to ER last night, three hours past ten.
Twas not the colitis, nor even the swine
that made my back pain cross the line.

For in my two kidneys I have twenty new friends,
they are stoners for sure, with painful ends.
For once they leave kidneys they wriggle and writhe,
till they escape, a feeling not blithe

My lovely nurse Breanne and the swell Doctor Dale
prescribed me some percocet, to make me feel well.
If lortab made me loopy I can't even describe
the fun that await me, once the percocet's inside.

Now everyone relax, I am just kidding you see.
well, not about the stones or my nice nurse Miss Bre.
But I have not touched the percocet, nor will I ever
...at least until mr. stone and his 19 friends enter.

Thanks for your wishes and thoughts ever so kind,
I am back to myself, with just a little more rhyme.

Lortab Limerick

Hello confidantes! (yeah, there is an "e." I doubt any males read this blog, so I felt that was safe. I use that version as much as possible as it was a note my dear sister wrote in the very beginning of my favorite book, Pride and Prejudice. )

So, after a weekend of feeling like my abdomen was soaring through an asteroid field aboard the millennium falcon, I finally went to the doctor last night. This was followed by the e.r. And then the pharmacy. Apparently I have "colitis." As I have never heard of this on Grey's Anatomy I kinda think they are making it up. But at least the pharmacist was his own kind of McDreamy. Yum. Anyways, McDreamy Drug man finally gave me some Lortab last night which made the asteroid pelted abdomen pain desist. As such, I have decided to write a Lortab Limerick. *Just a note, it is shocking how much easier Limerick's are to create when on Lortab.*
Lovely Loopy Lortab...a limerick in short

My colitis makes my abdomen quake,
but my Lortab makes it take a break
McDreamy gave pills,
Jim handed him bills
And now I feel as "baked" as a cake.

magnanimous maples

My article has finally arrived! For a few weeks this June, my entire existence was dedicated to all things leafy, as my assignment for Utah Style and Design was to write about Japanese Maple Trees. Ever since, the Crimson Queens and Bloodgoods have haunted me. I see them on campus, or at the outlets. Who knew there were things beyond clothes there!? The one nearest and dearest to my heart is the Crimson Queen that sits just outside my window at home. When I first wake up, I can look through the blinds and see its perfectly formed leaves. (Refer to article to see which kind of leaf type:) Tune in soon for an ode to my house.
Check it out here, or in print in the newest issue of Utah Style and Design!

new pens

so, school started yesterday. I can't believe it, it was my LAST first day. Ever. I love the first day of school, the freshness and potential. You can't forget an assignment on the first day, and if you embarrass yourself badly enough you can always transfer out and nobody remembers:) I love thinking about my outfit at the nordstrom anniversary sale, wondering what ensemble could possibly be worthy enough to strut that campus with ease. But, perhaps what I love most of all about the beginning of school is the NEW PENS!! I love them! You haven't lost them yet, you know for a fact that they will not just run out of ink on you, and the lid is still intact (I haven't chewed the life out of it). And doodles seem so much more aesthetically pleasing when sketched with a noveau crayon lecteur. I prefer the Pilot Precise V5 in red (for editing), green for fun, and the normal blue and black. Blue is my favorite:)

This one's for the girls...my girls

So. Being of the overly competitive and occasionally absentmindedly intimidated sort I have recently taken a break from my blog writing. However, a kind friend mentioned this to me and made me so excited that I actually had a noticer, and thus a reader, that I decided to dedicate this blog post to her and the rest of my girlies. It seems as if a mere diddy on da blog is nowhere near worthy enough to express how I feel about my girlies, but I will give it a go. Thanks for being my friends, confidantes, laughter, inspiration, joy, comfort, cooks, stylists and so much more.

Ode #5 bobby pin

The woman who invented the bobby pin (yes, it was a woman. I checked) ought to receive a nobel peace prize, as she has kept peace in my hair for about 10 years now. They are amazing, with these tiny little things you can create an updo in less than 8 minutes, pick a lock, clean between lil places, get a broken zipper up and work as an impromptu paper clip. I just love bobby pins, and there is nothing quite as exciting as buying a brand new pack. So much promise with so many bobby pins. mmmm. Disclaimer: My mom and the resident vacuum cleaner are not the bobby pins biggest fans:)

Ode #4: Dresses of Divinity

In 4th grade, I had a vendetta against dresses. And the color pink. I know, it is a frightening thought, and I refer to this time as the dark ages of my life. However, now I have walked into the light again and rediscovered my love of dresses. They are comfortable, feminine, and a complete outfit within themselves. They make more of a statement about their wearers then any other clothing item. I just love them. Here are some of my favorite places to find divine dresses...

1. Shabby Apple

2. JCrew sale

3. ModCloth!!

Ode #3: Harry Potter, Harry Potter

I really do love Harry Potter. I have read each book at least 3 times, even the 5th one which I don't really count as a true member of the Harry Potter family. It is like an evil step child that no one really likes, but is still obligated to be in the family picture, you know what I mean? In a week from today, I will have seen the newest Harry Potter movie, #6 baby! Me and my fellow frenzied fanatic Cousin Derek are attending the midnight showing on the 4th row with some Muggle friends. I can't wait! I still have one extra ticket if anyone wants to join us! Here are some fun Harry Potter sites to go to if you want to find out which house you are in, or care to see the Potter Puppet Pals.

1. Which house would the sorting hat put YOU in?

2. Watch a preview for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

3. Potter Puppet Pals

Ode #2: Don't cha' wanna Donut?

Fried dough, with the tender encasing of melted sugar, cooled to the point that it flakes and melts sumptuously in the palette. Mmmmmm. I really do love donuts. Yes, plural. I can never eat just one, I have to eat three at least. In one sitting. Consecutively. I love donuts. Simple glazed and Chocolate Cake rock my socks. The old Albertsons brand were among my favorite, but now that they are deceased, that honor goes to the following:

1. Sugar and Spice: The Wilk, P-town USA
2. Krispy Kreme: America
3. The Store

Ode #1: The love of my life

It seems appropriate that I dedicate my first ode to the true love of my life: the wedding gown. This love affair began before I can even remember. I got my first bridal magazine for my sixth birthday, along with Bride Barbie. I was a bride twice for Halloween, in the enchanting gown my mother made me, with 6 different kinds of laces. My first hardcover book, The Knot Book of Wedding Gowns, arrived with another birthday about 8 years later. Now I am lucky enough to be living my dream come true, working as a bridal consultant and writing for a bridal magazine. How often is it that the most outrageous expectations and hopes are not only matched, but exceeded? I can't believe how lucky I am! I love wedding gowns, I love the fabrics and their personalities, and how they suit each unique girl. I love the sheer creativity of each one, and the hours involved with the details. I love learning more about them each day, I crave knowing everything I can about them. They never disappoint me or break my heart, they have been a faithful companion.
Favorite designers: Oscar de La Renta (lots of bows and ruffles involved:), Romona Keveza and Amsale
Favorite fabric: Dupioni, naturally
Favorite color: Ivory
Favorite details: Nothing! No lace, no beads
The designer of my current dress: Maggie Sottero

An Ode a day keeps the Dark Clouds Away

Identity crisis has been solved. Henceforth, this blogging experience will be dedicated to the random and nonsensical, but coincidentally wonderful, pieces of life. An ode a day, to keep the shadows and darkest clouds away. No raining on my parade baby. Stay tuned.

Forecast for the Autumn Day?

Okay, I am currently deciding what to make of this blog. It could be a wedding blog, involving me sharing what I know and think and learn of all things bride and beautiful (and not so beautiful on occasion:) Or a blog about my focus on fashion, as usual holding nothing back? Perhaps a blog sharing all the things I learn from my list of "things I want to learn." This includes learning the parts of a car, learning more about business and pr, figuring out how to design a website, learning architecture and gardening and interior design? So weathergirls, what should the forecast be for this Autumn Day?

The beginning of a new day

Hello friends, foes and readers of any nature. May you have a beautiful autumn day everyday--okay maybe not you foes because I obviously don't like you for some reason or another. :)
